AL-SOM.

The rapid growth of the city of Riyadh overtook conventional planning methods, that started in the 1950’s, giving way for large developments to run in parallel and independently shape its characteristics. Due to this mega expansion, many districts of Riyadh can be defined by micro-localized attributes.

The work examines the notion of boundaries in the city and their physical manifestations. Al Som is an exploration of boundaries. in the city of Riyadh as a typology, that includes natural and man made borders.
