WITH LOVE, FROM NOWHERE.

In a world, where the hoped-for condition did not ensue, and ideology is useless to capitalist development, The Places of the Not Yet feels embodies the fears and hopes of our current reality. Coincidentally everything and nothing at the same time, the non-places are in a constant state of flux; a palpable paradoxical anomaly. Sublimely useless in their nature, it evades the impossibility of meaning by being empty, it resists the marketplace by being silent – practicing a continuous empty autonomy.

The artists have redefined their relationship with the physical and digital environments by becoming makers and not mere subjects. Using this piece to explore what is not yet there and challenging the notion that placemaking always must begin with an idea of something located somewhere. Conceptualized in this way the use of imagination becomes intentional rather than fanciful. They were also able to investigate the concepts of utopias as a thought exercise, limiting the piece to the digital realm allowed them to examine these theories without the burden of realizing them physically; beyond the sculptural maquettes that allowed for the further investigations.

Exploring the sublime; by traversing the line between the beautiful and grotesque to create places with no necessary style makes superficial characteristics the only thing that makes the non-places appear related or different. This challenges the viewer to make impossible style designations, since the aesthetic is the primary criterion, knowledge and evaluation of the object depend on the conformity of the visible.

The piece was conceived in parts that happened in choreographed isolation. The resulting sculptures, audio, drawings, 3D scans and descriptions of the non-places is an excessive bombardment of absurd information, making the viewer's ability to comprehend the places always tread between hyper-specificity and complete ambiguity.

The non-places only exist through the interpretations of the various forms of the facsimiles created by both artists as representations of, in turn, their own interpretations. This echoes the ethos of the project; with the fear of ambiguity of the future comes solace by the prospect of hope.
